Why kids should learn yoga?

Today is the 5th “International Day of Yoga”.

Yoga is mostly viewed as an exercise routine for adults but can be extremely beneficial for your kids as well.Not only does yoga help your child grow into healthy adults, but it also plays an instrumental role in nourishing their mind. In fact, yoga can help your child learn some important life lessons.

Yoga does not teach competition.

In today’s time, we see and hear all about being the best but yoga is one practice that doesn’t discriminate. Yoga celebrates different bodies, different potentials because it understands that everyone cannot be great at everything; different bodies are capable of doing different things. No one is great or worse at doing yoga- it is simply a process of exploring your body and improving every single day.

Along with being non-competitive, yoga also teaches your child to accept themselves and celebrate their individualities. This is an extremely valuable lesson, which when learned at an early stage, can help them fight feelings of self doubt.

While you may argue that your child learns dance or follows a sport, but to follow an eexercise program like yoga so early in life teaches your child discipline and the importance of being active in life to remain healthy. And it eventually turns into a lifestyle.

Yoga teaches your child to focus within and concentrate on their breathing. They learn to align their bodies and be aware of their movement.

With incidences of mental health ailments hitting young, yoga will be like a gift to your child. Yoga helps children calm their mind and focus on themselves. Children who practice yoga regularly are less likely to crumble when faced wit anxiety or depression.
